Somewhere I Belong: Is Your Work Culture Inclusive or Exclusive?

Jeff Kikel

The Ideal "Work Culture"

Part of what makes or breaks an entrepreneur’s ideal environment is the work culture and we understand that better than anyone.

“T-Werx is such a welcoming and collaborative place of business and all of us business owners support each other. Thank you to all who support making my company feel welcome to be there.” -- Testimonial by Carmen Kyle

So, what is the ideal “Work Culture”?
One of our recurring testimonials is that we are NOTHING like the big co-working jockeys of Austin.

“The problem with most of the “co-working” offices, is that they are not actually co-working offices. They are offices that you can rent to keep from working from home, but they do not have an office environment that is filled with energy, ideas and people. They do not support the needs of the growing professional.

This is not the case at the T-Werx office. The T-Werx co-working office is more than just an office, it is an environment where you can engage with people on a daily basis to grow as an individual and grow your business. It is an active support network of ideas and resources. The facility is very professional. This is a place where you can be proud to bring your clients, both big and small.

I chose to locate my office at the T-Werx facility for these reasons and I have not been disappointed. Each day has been both exciting and rewarding.” -- Testimonial by Terry W.

Here are the biggest complaints we've heard about our biggest competitors:

  • Noise levels make it hard to concentrate.

  • Surprisingly, finding productive networking opportunities are far and few. There are plenty of events but not enough entrepreneurs looking to make actual connections.

  • Very little learning opportunities are being maximized to help out entrepreneurs struggling with business growth and leadership skills.

  • Unless you are already a paying member, bigger coworking spaces simply lack a community spirit.

So, what are these companies lacking in their coworking culture?

Ideally, work culture in coworking spaces should promote inclusion and support for the entrepreneurial community. It’s easy to be drawn to aesthetic “instragram worthy” city-scapes, freebies, and happy hours every day of the week, but for real professionals trying to make strides to achieve their ambitions, it’ll take more than just free ice cream.

Here is what we believe Coworking Culture should be about:

  • Diversity : T-Werx Coworking believes in the idea of a healthy and genuinely productive work culture. Our members come from various industries that help to color our work community with various experiences and opinions.

  • Opportunity : It isn’t just about having a desk away from home, it’s about having opportunities the minute you walk into the building. Opportunities to learn from our workshops, to bounce around ideas, and to build personal and professional relationships.

  • Community : Coworking should be inclusive not exclusive! You never have to be an official member at T-Werx to be part of our family. We believe in, not just our coworking community, but supporting our local community, non profits , and local businesses. We love giving local business owners a platform to stand on to share their vision with the rest of us.

  • Collaboration : Hosting meet-ups, creating groups like our Entrepreneurs Guild , Toast Masters , and W.O.M.E.N. Inspired Entrepreneurs is our way of encouraging our members and community to learn from each other, collaborate, and share ideas. We’re always hosting events inside and outside of our space to promote our passionate belief in the entrepreneur spirit.

Creating the perfect coworking culture means creating real opportunities, having real support for your community, and giving professionals a place to belong.
